One Magical Show

We gave it to Danny & Toni last night, so I can finally post a pic of this thing.

Back in 2004, we attended a Pixies show at the Aragon in which two of our good friends became an item. Now they are getting married (in 8 days) I was hoping to do capture the evening in a piece of artwork. Conceptually, I wanted to tie the event of the first stage of their relationship to the event of the show itself (which kicked ass by the way). The first thing that came to mind were rock posters.

Instead of the traditional screenprinting or going with a digital print, I opted to go the gouache route to give it a bit of texture and to avoid making something I could easily reproduce. The colors are solid and the outlines were done in black ink. It was a successful piece not only for me personally, but I'm happy they enjoyed it.

Before and After: Gears

Before

This is a photo of the gears at the Chicago Bridgehouse. As you can see the paint was falling off and it looked pretty beat up so I cleaned it up.
